Sunday 20th November saw our first friendly fixture against Morpeth.

Our squad of 9 players arrived bright and early, if a little bit nervously, at Morpeth hockey club ready for our first game.

Morpeth had three, 7 aside junior teams and we played a match against each.

Our first match was well fought with some fantastic runs up the side line from Elena and some good passing up to our attacking D from Emily. A great team effort before Judy scored our goal. Despite some excellent defending from Anna, Morpeth drew level and we ran out of time, ending with a 1-1 draw.Laughing

The second match saw us play against Morpeth’s strongest team. With our first match over and nerves settling a bit we had some excellent play with great runs from Kaitlyn, despite being ill and chances to score from Juliette. Some fantastic defending from Amy and amazing saves from Gaurika our Goal Keeper were unfortunately not enough to stop Morpeth winning 2-0.Frown

The third match was another excellent team performance, lots of end to end hockey and some good attacks on goal. A special mention to Katie who worked very hard in midfield, but unfortunately we were unlucky to lose 1-0 when the whistle blew.Frown

LaughingMany thanks to the Mum’s and Dad’s for supporting us on the sidelines.

Special thanks to Megan for coaching, umpiring and arranging this fixture for us. We all had a great morning (especially the jelly tots and chocolate biscuits) and look forward to the return fixture in the New Year.

Well done to all the squad who took part.

Hockey Skills Challenge.

The Hockey Youth Trust has agreed a grant application made by the junior section of our club, to help us buy a set of junior Goal Keeping kit. We have also been given a wonderful opportunity to purchase a 2nd set of junior Goal Keeper kit IF we can raise £225.

We propose to raise this money in a sponsored junior Hockey Skills Challenge.

This will take place on 7th December 2011 during our usual Wednesday night training session – 6-7pm.

The Challenge will consist of a timed skills circuit which needs to be completed by each junior player.
WE INVITE YOU ALL to take part, so that we can raise as much money as possible and reach our target.

Sponsorship forms are available from Megan,
but if you’ve missed a session don’t worry, you can still join in on the night.
Hope to see you all there!  Smile

SUPER SKATING SATURDAY!!!

So the juniors ventured out off the pitch in search for a new sport!!

 ICE SKATING!!

It has to be said that on reflection we are offically far better at field hockey that we will be at ice hockey. However with a little practice you never know!

Due to a traumatic injury I was unable to join the others on the ice, which seemed to put some doubt into people's minds that I was actually able to skate! Well I would like to point out that I can and will be proving it as soon as possible!

After all limbs had frozen off we ventured to the hut of pizzas! yum yum!

A few party games later by the Shelbie and several stuffed crust pizzas we were all ready to leave.

But then......
Out of nowhere came a cake, candles and a chorus of happy birthday from everyone in the restaurant.
It was Beth's birthday! Cake was delicious (Thanks Mummy Gill)

Hopefully everyone enjoyed the afternoon and thanks for coming along!

Till the next adventure!

Newsflash

In the first Newsletter of the 2011 season, I (web manager) added that Emma Dixon (aka fattie) had worked hard to forge our new relationship with Benwell Hill Cricket Club with plenty of help and support from Claire Smith. This should in fact have said Clare Dixon (aka Thinny).

Apologies to all involved for this mini-boob and thank you Clare Dixon for your fine work!

NB Claire Smith is very busy helping with club finances to do BHCC as well - thank you Claire!
